What is a starting motor’s purpose, and why do you need one to start your car engine? There are two causes behind this. To begin with, the motor cannot initiate the combustion process on its own, especially at zero RPM. An external force is required to turn it over. This force is a small but strong engine known as the starting motor in most automobiles. In automotive beginning systems, the starter motor serves two purposes: first, it transfers electrical energy from the battery into mechanical energy, and second, it provides the mechanism for engaging with the flywheel and cranking the engine. It would be challenging to start the engine without the input of the motor.
