In oil and gas production wells, choke knobs are a common form of the severe service control valve. They manage the fluid flow in the well. The choke knob also controls the downstream flowline pressures and kills reservoir pressure. It controls the flow by moving a stopper or stem up and down inside a cylinder with slots.
